15th Silicon Gorge Cup 2014
What a rhythm!
Thursday 3th July 2014 @ Goals Soccer Centres
,  BRISLINGTON

The biggest and the best football tournament for UK's electronic design companies, that's the Silicon Gorge Cup!

All that was missing was the Samba music!  The 2014 tournament presented another fantastic day.  18 teams, 12 companies, 140+ players including one person who has played in all 15 tournaments!

Selex ES, whose goal keept David Rosbottom made a last minute move in the April transfer window from Astrium, were crowned the new Silicon Gorge champions!  The final was a tight match and the runners up, Wolfson (who had travelled from Edinburgh), deserved credit for a great performance.  At the final whistle just one goal separated the two teams.

A new feature in the 15th year was teh referee's "player of the tournament".  Congratulations to Rob Kellet of Nvidia.

The What a rhythm side line competition which complimented the on-pitch action was won by Nvidia A team who were pleased as punch to win 2 crates of beer.

As one of the players who competed in the very first tournament in 2000 it was fitting for John Moor, VP Marketing, NMI to present the trophies for the 15th tournament.

"It was a great honour to be invited to present the awards at the 15th annual Silicon Gorge Cup. It represents two of my great passions - celebrating engineering in the UK and football.  In 2000, Richard Phelps and I suggested the idea of a tournament to Mentor Graphics and it is incredible that it has not only continued through industry cycles but is now stronger than ever. Congratulations to all the players and winners and a big thank you to Mentor Graphics for supporting such a wonderful event."

Thank you to all who were able to buy a raffle ticket.  202.17 was raised for the Naomi House children's hospice.

Mark your diary for the 2015 competition - July 2nd and start your training early to boost your chance to beat this year's champions, SELEX ES!

Have a great summer and look forward to seeing you next year.
